This kit contains all you need to set up an electric fence system around your chickens, and it comes with full instructions for setting it up and telephone support is always available if you need it.

The kit includes the new Paddock Kite 80 energiser from Hotline, a 50m roll of green poultry netting, 25m roll of lead out cable, 2 crocodile clips and a one metre earth stake.

To set up: Unroll the netting and push the posts into the ground preferably to enclose your hens and their house in a square to prevent predator intrusion from all sides (although you could make different shapes or have it in one long line if you wish). Install the energiser near a 3-pin socket and use the lead-out cable to take the power to the fence and to connect to the earth stake using the crocodile clips. Turn on the power and thats it - basically. Full installation instructions provided with the kit.

You can select extra items to add to your kit by scrolling down this page. so if your ground is uneven or sloping it may be an idea to add more flexiposts or corner posts. You could also add a pocket fence tester or indicator light tube to tell whether the fence is working correctly.

The Hobby P450S Energiser from Hotline is a popular and very reliable energiser which could run 2 x 50m nets if required. It runs off a 12v re-chargeable leisure battery which sits outside the unit. This is not included in the kit but is available separately from the link below. You may find that you can source a leisure battery locally cheaper than we can send one to you, they can be found at caravan shops and some motor shops (make sure it is a 12v 85Amp/hr leisure battery though).

Options to add to this kit are a Fence Indicator Light which flashes with the pulses of the fence, this acts as a deterrent and also gives quick visual sign that the fence is working, or, a Fence Voltage Alert which clips on to the fence and a red light will flash if the fence is not on or if the voltage drops below a certain level - very useful.

If your ground is sloping or particularly uneven it may be worth considering adding more Black Flexi Posts which also avoids the frustration of never having a post in the net where you need it. Although this net comes with 15 posts and we include an extra 5 flexiposts with the kit, this may not be enough in all situations. There is a post inserted approx 1m from the end of the net to make a gateway into the pen. By using this section of the net as your entry point in and out of the pen you will prevent a lot of wear and tear on the main net.

This kit will protect an area of approx 156 sq m (40ft x 40ft) and with mains power you don't have to worry about the battery going flat, but the energiser unit does have to be housed under cover with access to 3 pin socket when used in a mains powered system.

Pack of 10 extra black flexi-posts for Green Poultry Netting.

Extra posts are sometimes needed for poultry netting especially if you have an awkwardly shaped poultry pen, restricted access round the pen or, sloping and uneven ground. Every netting installation is different and the posts included should be sufficient for most cases, however we recommend you consider adding these posts to a net or kit order, especially with a 25m net (which we often think never has enough posts) and as the posts are never in the right place for every situation. Sagging can be often remedied by adding extra posts where netting changes direction and combined with guy ropes the net should be quite taut.

Hangs on the fence and flashes with the rhythm of the electric pulses (approx. once every 5 seconds). Can be seen in the dark from a considerable distance to show the fence is working.

The constant flash does help to deter and un-nerve predators so acts as a deterrent. Particularly useful when hung on poultry netting.

If the fence voltage drops below 2000v the light will stop flashing.

Tip: Hang it near to where the power goes into the fence.
