The Hotline Hobby 12v Energiser is a very flexible all-round unit. Good for general farm use, horse fencing and protecting pheasant and poultry pens.

This energiser will power up to 5 sheep nets or 2 poultry nets, or up to 6 km of wire or tape.

The Hobby is powered by a 12v rechargeable leisure battery (link below), which we would always advise you use in preference to a car battery. A 12v 85 amp/hr Leisure Battery would last for approx 9 weeks between charges, depending on use.

This unit has its own metal stand but we would recommend a 1 m earth stake with any 12v unit.

The LED will flash green when the unit is working correctly, but will change to red when the battery requires re-charging. A buzzer will sound if the battery terminals are connected incorrectly.

There is a 2 year warranty on all Hotline energisers.

This 75 amp/hr, re-chargeable 12v Sealed Leisure Battery comes with a built-in charge level indicator and carry handle. For use with any 12v Battery Energiser e.g. Hotline Hobby Energiser, Wolseley Midge etc.

We always recommend the use of leisure-type batteries with electric fencing. They are designed to be discharged and then re-charged whereas car batteries are not. This battery should have a life of 200 cycles so will last quite a number of years.

Although a charge will last approx 4 - 6 weeks we do recommend that they are recharged every 2 weeks or so to keep the battery in best condition. This battery has a depth of discharge of 70% and we have found that if allowed to discharge fully it could damage the plates and it will be very hard to get it to take a full charge properly again. Also, we do recommend with this battery that at least a 7 amp battery charger be used.
